Kimonos starting gaining popularity when I found out I was pregnant. I considered that a direct message from the fashion gods saying, "we got you, girl." Throughout my pregnancy, I acquired a fair share of kimonos and have found that I'm still purchasing them post pregnancy. There are so many things I love about them that it's hard to deny their value in my closet - or online shopping cart.
I found the one above at Riff Raff and immediately fell in love with the color - plus I knew it would pair so well with several pieces in my current wardrobe.
Kimonos like this not only add a pop of color to your wardrobe, but they also become your best friend when it comes to hiding your backside. More often than not I'll wear a kimono over something tight so the outfit is balanced, and if I happen to wear a bra that is too tight or pants that are a little snug, no one could see the love handles. Just kidding, I don't have love handles. Or do I? I also like to wear kimonos belted, wrapped to one side (kind of like a scarf), and over plain outfits so I don't feel so basic.
