Animal Instincts

Everyone's heard about mixing prints by now, right? If you haven't... try it. Just make sure the prints have some kind of common ground - in this case, both of my prints share the color black. Which also happens to be why I paired this look with black leggings. The brown boots create symmetry with the brown/tan color in my scarf, and the maroon over-the-knee socks (in this case, I've rolled them over my boots for a different look) mesh well with the color family.

*Prego-tip/Confession: A while back I bought this roomy zebra dress from Anthropologie thinking it would be a great "mumu" dress for when I hit the bigger stages of pregnancy. Truth be told, it's a great dress with a lot of room, but it makes me feel like a blimp when it's all buttoned up. And because my belly is growing quickly, I can't really cinch in my waist with a cute beaded belt. (RIP small waist) So, I've told myself I'll never wear it closed, and instead I'm going to wear it as a vest. So for those of you that do have "mumu's" like this that you can wear unbuttoned... do it! You'll feel better about yourself and your cute bump. I promise.
