An Arizona Getaway

If you follow me on social media, you know where I was this past weekend. For those of you that don't, I'm going to go ahead and presume the title of the post gives it away.

My out-of-this-world amazing Grandmother turned 80 on February 4th so we decided to fly out to Phoenix to surprise her and spend this exciting milestone  together! And I'm so glad we did.

I've been to Arizona twice before. Once to visit my grandparents and check out a few culinary schools. Yes, there was a time I wanted to be a chef. The second time was for a family reunion and to attend a few Padres spring training games. I love me some MLB. And baseball pants. Especially on Troy Tulowitzki. I'm just waiting for the Rockies to be able to overuse the word 'Rocktober' again.
Anyway, on this trip I came to terms with my overboard obsession with palm trees and cacti. Seriously, it's embarrassing. You should see how many photos I have of each on my iPhone.

I also realized how badly I want it to get hot so I can swim. It's a good thing Arizona has no shortage of pools. I had a blast swimming laps with my sister - it definitely prepared us for all of the Super Bowl food and drinks we consumed later that day.

Speaking of the Super Bowl.....
I loved my Super Bowl outfit. Probably not appropriate to wear to my Grandma's Super Bowl party, but it was a fun topic/icebreaker to talk about with all of my grandma's friends.
Plus. I scored these drawstring sequin shorts from Forever 21 for $8.00!

On my Grandma's actual birthday, we took her to a neat little town up in the Arizona mountains called Carefree. We decorated her in 80's sunglasses and a matching tiara then hopped in the car and headed north. We stopped by the Waldorf Astoria resort first, took a few pictures, resisted the urge to hike - then stopped for lunch at the cutest little cafe called Cafe Bink.

The trip ended way too fast, and before I knew it, I was up at 4:00 am heading to the airport.

I'm already missing my grandparents, my aunt and Arizona.
I'll be back soon!

To read a little bit about my previous weekend, check out Sami's Shenanigans.
She's one of my favorite people in the entire world and we had the BEST time when she flew into Dallas to spend the weekend with me! (And Lady Gaga... I guess I can't take all the credit.)
We went to college together, interned together, and now we wish we lived together.
Serious nonstop laughing every time I'm around her.

Also!
I've fallen in love with Morgan Neal - the sweetheart blogger over at Stars, Stripes and a Military Life.
She's doing a fabulous Valentine's Day giveaway and I'm thrilled she asked me to be involved!
But I'm not the only one. There are 11 other kick ass prizes from 11 other fabulous bloggers!
The giveaway ends tonight so be sure to hop on over to Morgan's Feel The Love Giveaway right now and enter to win the beautiful necklace I'm giving away - along with the other great prizes!

  1. So amazing that you wanted to be a chef. That's what I'm going to school for. Tell me about Tulo. Went to see him play in Denver, loved it. But the STL CARDS will always have my heart! I mean have you seen Matt Holliday?
