A JORD Wood Watch for My Valentine

It seems like Valentine's Day is always about the girl. The roses, the bright red heart-shaped boxes of chocolates, gigantic stuffed animals, and maybe a little something extra -- they're all geared towards women. But don't get me wrong, I'm definitely okay with being totally spoiled every February! I just find it a little sad that the most masculine things readily available at stores in our area are a baseball themed heart-shaped box of chocolates and beef jerkey flowers. So, this Valentine's Day, I really want to celebrate my husband. My sweet, genuine, supportive, selfless, kind-hearted, loyal, and loving husband.

Scott (aforementioned husband) typically stays behind the scenes on my blog and social media. He's the one who takes all of my photos, for the most part, so he rarely ends up in them. I don't think he minds that much, though. When I asked him if he would let me know take a few photos of him with his Valentine's gift, he wasn't as excited as I would've hoped. But that's okay. Let me just tell you a little bit about the man that Scott is and why I wanted to splurge a little on him this holiday.

Every morning he wakes up before me and washes all of my pump bottles, preparing them for my morning pump session. He goes to Starbucks just down the road and gets me a warm coffee. If I'm in a hurry during the week (which I usually am), he'll make me and the kids breakfast. I never have to put gas in my car because he always keeps tabs on it, and will fill it up without me even realizing. He's always ready and willing to get us groceries or stop by the drug store to pick me up makeup remover wipes. He will forego NFL Sunday to take blog photos of me without TOO much complaining. He knows how much I love roses, so every now and then he'll come home with a fresh bouquet. Should I keep going or is your heart melting too? He's just incredible and I hope he knows that all of these unsung things he does for me every single day mean the world.

Having two kids has kept us completely on our toes. Our house is constantly a mess. I rarely get a full six hours of sleep at night. I'm constantly trying to balance motherhood with a full-time job and this blog that I'm so passionate about (but often neglect). And on top of that, I signed myself up for a half-marathon later this year. With all of this going on, Scott is always right beside me, navigating through the chaos and supporting everything I want to do.

When it came to finding the right Valentine's gift, I didn't have to look very far. I knew I wanted to get him a nice watch because he has needed one for quite some time. So I started out on my search at the typical online retailers - and then I somehow stumbled upon JORD Wood Watches. I had seen Scott eyeing wood watches in the past so I immediately perked up. As I was looking through their selection, I came upon this watch with the emerald background. The color emerald has a lot of significance in our life together - and it also happens to be Brady's birthstone. I knew it was the one!

I gifted it to him a little early, as you can tell (it's still January!) but I couldn't wait.

Scott, I hope you aren't embarrassed when you read this. But I hope you know that I'm so proud of the man you have become since we met in college exactly ten years ago. I admire your drive and constant desire to do more for our family. You are the best father and my absolute best friend, and I'm so lucky to call you my (and Parker's) Valentine!

Because we're both so happy with Scott's watch, JORD offered to give my readers a $100 gift card towards any purchase on their website!

All you have to do is enter HERE! Just takes a few seconds.  And each and every person that enters will receive a $25 gift card right away!

The contest ends TONIGHT 1/22 and a winner will be announced shortly thereafter.

Good luck!

Wardrobe Transitions

Lately, I've been really refining my wardrobe to include more neutral staple pieces that will hold a longer shelf life. As I get older, I feel so much more myself dressing this way. I guess that means my style is evolving - and I really like what it's evolving into!

My new thing, aside from shopping neutrals, is to have fun with my bags. On that same token, I'm really much more into investing in bags that are going to last a lifetime. I've totally cleaned out my closet in the last few weeks and I've sold almost every single one of my purses. I'm only holding on to the designer bags that I use very frequently. When it came time to add to my purse collection, this Chanel double flap bag really caught my eye. I love the bright orange-red color and I knew that it would look great with a lot of my *new* neutral outfits.

If you haven't heard about Trendlee, where I've been purchasing my designer bags at a much much lower cost, check out this post here. I was so surprised to see that they had so many genuine Chanel flap bags to offer!

So, I guess the *fashion* moral of the story here is, in my own opinion, if you keep your clothing more neutral, have fun with your bags! And INVEST, INVEST, INVEST! A nice bag can make a cheap outfit look 100x more expensive.

Louis Vuitton Alma Handbag

Bag // Beanie // Sunglasses // Scarf // Coat // Top // Jeans // Boots

Have you ever fallen in love with a luxury designer bag, but you didn't have the funds or justification to purchase it? This is an everyday occurrence for me. Don't judge... I'm working on it. But when I do get my heart set on one and actually save up for it, they are typically the only thing I end up purchasing at the retail price. This is due in large part because I never realized I could actually purchase a luxury preowned bag (think YSL not Tory Burch) in new or mint condition for less than the retail price. So you can imagine my surprise (and my wallet's panic) when I discovered Trendlee.

To be brief, Trendlee offers a vast range of luxury handbags at really great price points. I've always dreamed of owning a Louis Vuitton Alma handbag in the multicolor monogram since Jessica Simpson carried them back in the MTV Newlywed's day. So when I saw the price (about 60% off aretail) I had to take a chance. The bag arrived a few days later and looked brand new! I could honestly kick myself now for the other Louis Vuitton bags I own that I paid full price for. Oh well, you live and you learn!

P.S. If you love the Gucci Soho Disco bags as much as I do, they're on major sale here too!

Wish List + The Best of Black Friday

Hi friends! First of all, can you believe it's already the day after Thanksgiving? Time is going by so fast. Our entire Thanksgiving went by so fast! We had all of these big plans to go on a bike ride, help my parents get their Christmas tree out of the attic and decorate it, play a soccer game with Brady... but before we knew it, it was 7:00 PM and we needed to get the kids home and to bed. My mom and I looked at each other and said "well, what did we even do today?" Ha!

Above is my wish list for this year - and absolutely everything on it is on sale today! I've done this for a few years on my blog now and I love it because my husband actually sneaks a peek and gets me a few things from it. But aside from being selfish, I hope it also helps with gift ideas for you or your loved ones! I'll link everything above directly below. And can I also just point out that the peach bellini gummies above are absolutely incredible?! They also come in a rosé flavor. You've gotta get those! Perfect stocking stuffer.

Also, because it IS Black Friday, I've listed ALL of the online + in-store sales going on today! Some actually go through the weekend too so be sure to check out the dates I've listed in case you aren't ready to pull the trigger yet! I'll be snuggled up in my pajamas all day today so I'll be sure to update this post in real-time as I hear of any new sales.

Happy shopping!

Most Wanted: Lace-Up Sweater

 OUTFIT DETAILS

(Everything pictured is 25-40% off too!! Follow the links for discount codes on each site!)

Trend alert! This lace-up sweater (under $30) has been spotted EVERYWHERE. So, I had to grab one of my own to see what the fuss was all about. The verdict? I was pleasantly surprised. I'm normally wary of cheaper sweaters, but this one exceeded my expectations. It really feels like it comes from a good fabric family, it's soft and comfortable, and I just love the neckline. I've never been a huge fan of wearing jewelry, so I love when clothes have a little extra pizzazz, making it unnecessary to wear jewelry for fear of looking too gaudy.

I'm wearing the sweater rolled up and billowed out here, but just so you know, it does unroll and it actually falls down over the booty. So it would be a perfect top to throw on over leggings.

My coat is (sadly) from two years ago - the color anyway - but it's still available in several other great colors. I personally love the camel color. This is by far my favorite winter coat so I think in a few years I'll pick up a neutral color. It's definitely worth the money - and it's also 40% off right now!

Before we left Classen Curve, I asked my husband to take a picture of me to post on Instagram. My poor husband. Anyway, I liked the picture he took so much, I decided to post it here too! The color makes my coat look orange, but it's clearly a super bright neon pink!

Have a great Wednesday! I'll be back tomorrow with a roundup of Black Friday sales!

Sleeveless Knit Tank

OUTFIT DETAILS:
Top // Jacket (identical versions here and here

So, I turned thirty earlier this year and it was something I had really been looking forward to. I loved my twenties and I can say whole-heartedly that I lived it up during that decade of my life, as one should. But, after having two little ones and becoming a full-time soccer mom, I knew I was totally ready to embrace my thirties. Not that I'm boring now or anything (I kind of am).

With age comes wisdom and a few things have happened this year that already make me feel older and wiser. The most notable of these is the subtle maturation of my wardrobe. I don't know if it's my subconscious or just a completely natural transition, but my style is absolutely growing up. I will always love brights colors, and there is a great big walk-in closet in my heart for all things sequin, but I now see how great outfits can be with simple colors and basic staples. And unless you're a millionaire, raising two kids isn't cheap, so stocking your closet with great staples can really extend the life of your wardrobe.

Now, if you believe in serendipity, you'll love this story. I connected with a fashion designer based in NYC shortly after my 30th birthday named Toni Hacker. Toni is such an inspiration - among a million other things. She understands what women go through every morning when they get dressed. We're busy, we're taking care of everyone around us, and yet, we still want to look good (and feel good about how we look) when we can. She gets it. She's been working in the fashion industry for years and so after all of this time, she decided to blaze her own trail and create her own line for women like me. Her clothing line is called Thacker and it's a collection of 67 modern essentials that you can mix and match together to create over 600,000 different looks. In her words, "it's designed to be the hardest-working 10% of your closet that you'll reach for daily."

***

I love this smog-colored knit tank because it's so buttery soft and a perfect layering piece. I know I'll be reaching for this tank quite often to wear under big cozy sweaters and long cardigans. If you want the layered look of a turtleneck, but don't want to get too hot indoors, this is your piece. It comes in a navy and black too! Check it out here or at the link above.

And when you have a moment, check it all out and let me know what you think! P.S. You will definitely find a sequin tunic and a gold moto jacket (that's on sale!) in the mix! You know I had to get my hands on those as well. More to come on that!
